If you\u2019ve been to the grocery store recently then you\u2019ve seen the impact of inflation, and rent prices are no exception. While the size of the next rent hike is hard to predict,\u00a0 paying more money for the same apartment is almost inevitable if you rent long enough.<\/p><p>Because payments on a fixed rate mortgage don\u2019t change, while theprice of everything else goes up, your house payment stays the same.\u00a0 Many homebuyers find that their first mortgage payment is less than they were paying in rent; but even if it doesn\u2019t start out that way, buying and owning a home will ultimately be cheaper than renting.\u00a0<\/p><h3><strong>2. Can owning a home in New Mexico build wealth?<\/strong><\/h3><p>Yes, buying a home is the way many Americans invest for the future because real estate gains value over time. Prior to that, she held a series of senior leadership roles in New Mexico state government including Director of Tax Policy, Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Economic Development and Superintendent of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department and served as research director for New Mexico Voices for Children.
