The El Camino Crossing development is unlike anything in the surrounding area. The development includes single-family homes, condominiums, live-work units and commercial buildings in close proximity to neighborhood-friendly businesses. ECC is located on the historic Camino Real and is centrally located in the Midtown area. The proximity to restaurants, stores, breweries and entertainment venues makes ECC a walkable and bikeable community in the rapidly revitalizing Siler and Agua Fria corridors. The development includes 40 single-family homes, 35 condominiums and live-work units and two commercial buildings, soon to be home to restaurants and office space.
Single Family Homes
The first phase of ECC began in 2017 with the construction of 40 single-family homes. The single story homes range from one to four bedrooms and include a detached garage option. The homes received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes Gold and Build Green New Mexico Gold certification. Energy efficient features of the homes include excellent insulation, windows and doors that exceed code requirements, high efficiency gas furnaces, high efficiency air conditioners and water heaters, ENERGY STAR lighting and appliances, and a solar electricity photovoltaic (PV) system standard with every home. With solar panels in place, these homes have a 50 rating on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) index. Each of the homes have WaterSense® and other low-flow plumbing fixtures. The landscaping was designed with xeriscape principles to minimize outdoor water use. These homes are estimated to use 40% less water than a standard home in Santa Fe and include other healthy homes measures such as low-VOC finishes, ventilation systems and a location that encourages walking and biking.
Homewise developed the second phase of ECC in the fall of 2019 year when we added 13 condominiums to the community. These one bedroom condos offer affordable living with easy walkable and bikeable access to the heart of the city.
Homewise will complete the third phase of the ECC development in 2020. This phase will include the construction of 22 mixed-use units. The design meets the needs of local entrepreneurs and at-home business owners who want to be able to live and work out of the same building.
The final phase of the ECC community will also include construction of two commercial buildings where two well-established and successful local restaurants and a co-working business will be. The commercial buildings will provide a great amenity to residents and surrounding neighbors, providing places for people to find affordable office space, enjoy a drink, or stop in for a delicious meal.
